Korean MP3P makers may start group buying Samsung flash memory

After Samsung supplied cheap flash memory modules for iPod nano by Apple, there was a rumor that the South Korean Fair Trade Commission might be investigating whether or not the two companies engaged in "unfair deals." (see this post on engadget) This has been spreaded by just a short radio talk of the chairman of FTC on 8th: FTC "could take action" against the Samsung Electronics-Apple deal if local MP3P makers request the probe. (via The Korea Times)

Now Korean Portable Audio Consortium is negotiating on group buying flash memory modules with Samsung Electronics, rather than complain or institute a suit. (see this article on Kmobile News, via Xenix) They discussed the proposal of KPAC on the price and amount of flash memory chips recently. This meeting was held thanks to the mediation of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in Korea. Samsung is also considering this suggestion positively, so the two parties seem to sign an trade agreement very soon. The meeting will be resumed next week.

Probably we can meet versatile Korean MP3Ps --they have various functions and unique spec-- with even cheaper price before Christmas! (Of course, this is their plan, too!) So we will have more options. :)
