Chinese Blog Award
The first blog award will be organized by ChinaTimes. (via Ching Chiao) The campaign will start on next Monday(17th, 10:00 AM!), and the award ceremony will be held in Taipei on mid-November. You can see this event here: http://blogaward.chinatimes.com. (written in Chinese)
It is reported that there are 100,000,000 bloggers now in China and 信息産業部 announced a new media regulations which seem to target blogs and online news sites. This implies that the influence of blogs has been extended so far. I don't know much about the blogs in Chinese speaking community, but I heard of very interesting cultural features from my friends. You can find a very informative PPT file here: Hybrid - Jedi's Weblog. This is very different from what we have heard from the newspapers.
In Korea, sometimes blog is considered as 1) troublemaking system especially regarding the copyright 2) useful marketing tool especially in the aspect of the entertainment business. (10,000 bloggers in Korea were prosecuted for the violation of copyright.) There are contentious issues on blogs in Korea, it is because blog system in Korea is a kind of creolized one. I am also skeptical of the possibility that blog culture can flourish in Korea... and I become skeptical more and more...
I hope blog culture in Chinese speaking community will be positive, autonomous, and creative! We can find some brilliant bloggers through this award. Also, I hope we Koreans can organize a nationwide event like this Chinese blog award, and encourage the active and creative bloggers!
