Working Definition of Internet Governance:

1) The report of the Working Group on Internet Governance (via wikipedia)
Internet governance is the development and application by Governments, the private sector and civil society, in their respective roles, of shared principles, norms, rules, decision-making procedures, and programmes that shape the evolution and use of the Internet.

2) A Two Part Definition of the Working Group on Internet Governance
First descriptive sentence:
Internet governance means the collective rules, procedures, and related programs intended to shape social actors' expectations, practices, and interactions concerning Internet infrastructure and transactions and content.

Second prescriptive sentence:
To the extent possible/as appropriate etc, Internet governance should be multilateral, transparent and democratic, with the full and balanced involvement of governments, the private sector, civil society and international organizations. It should encompass both technical and public policy aspects, ensure an equitable distribution of resources, facilitate access for all, and maintatin the stable and secure functioning of the Internet, taking into account multilingualism.

누군가에게 물어보면 쉽게 나올 대답이었지만, 민폐를 끼치고 싶지 않아서... 만족할 만한 결과가 나올 때까지 혼자서 계속 검색을 해보았다. 실은 아직 만족하지는 못했다. 하지만 어느 누구도 명료하게 정의내릴 수 없는 단어일 것이다. 늘 관심을 갖고 있고, 또한 관심을 접어서는 안 되는 분야임에도 불구하고 어렵다는 이유로 이 문제에 천착하지 못하고 있는데, 앞으로는 관련 분야도 종종 포스팅을 할까 한다.

(Internet governance라는 태그를 입력해보니, 해당 태그를 사용하는 사람들이 적어도 태터툴즈 사용자들 중에서는 아무도 없는 모양이다. 관련 주제를 한국에서 논의하기란 쉽지 않은 일인 듯 싶다. 물론 어디서나 마찬가지겠지만.)
